BodyIntegrityDysphoria.com, in collaboration with Corpus Sui z. s., invites Expressions of Interest for a planned interdisciplinary symposium on Body Integrity Dysphoria (BID) and broader questions of bodily autonomy.

Individuals may submit an Expression of Interest below either as a prospective speaker or as an attendee. The symposium is provisionally scheduled for late 2026. Final format and dates will be confirmed following feasibility assessment.

Process & Timeline

Deadline for Expressions of Interest (Speakers and Attendees): 31 May 2026.

Following the initial review phase:

  • Selected speakers will receive a formal invitation and further information regarding presentation format, timing, and potential publication pathways. Extended abstracts or draft papers may be requested at a later stage if applicable.

  • Individuals who register interest in attending will receive notification once the programme, format, and dates are confirmed. Formal registration will open at that stage.

All applicants will be contacted after the review phase.

Call for Speakers

We invite Expressions of Interest from scholars, clinicians, legal and policy professionals, and individuals living with Body Integrity Dysphoria (BID) who wish to contribute to a rigorous interdisciplinary dialogue.

The symposium will examine BID as a focal point for exploring broader ethical and moral tensions surrounding bodily autonomy, consent, medical intervention, legal recognition, and contested forms of relief or treatment. While Body Integrity Dysphoria remains central to the programme, proposals may also engage closely related debates, provided a clear conceptual or practical connection to BID is maintained.

Contributions may address, but are not limited to:

  • Lived experience of BID and its social implications

  • Ethical and moral arguments for and against medical intervention or legal recognition

  • Psychiatric and clinical perspectives

  • Legal frameworks and regulatory challenges

  • Contemporary and emerging therapeutic approaches

  • Comparative analyses with other contested bodily interventions

  • Broader philosophical reflections on autonomy and embodiment directly relevant to BID

Selected contributions may be recorded and may be considered for inclusion in a post-event publication (e.g., edited volume or journal submission), subject to prior agreement with contributors.
