Dear all,

We’re excited to announce the launch of an embedded demographic survey and live data visualisation on the BodyIntegrityDysphoria.com website 🎉

You will now find two new submenu items under the “What” section in the top navigation bar:

  • 📝 BID Demographic Survey

  • 📊 BID Survey – Live Community Data

🔍 About the Survey

The BID Demographic Survey is entirely anonymous and voluntary. You are not required to complete the survey in order to interact with the rest of the website or take part in future initiatives.

👉 All fields are optional — you may answer as much or as little as you like.
However, please note that we’ve implemented conditional logic, so skipping certain questions may hide related follow-up questions.

🚫 Only logged-in users can submit the form, and we have set it to allow one submission per user, in order to prevent skewed data.

📌 Although the survey is anonymous, if you’re entering free-text responses (e.g., when selecting “Other”), please avoid including personal information.

All collected data complies with GDPR standards and is processed and stored securely. Even though submissions are already anonymous, we’ve taken additional steps to ensure proper anonymisation and privacy 🛡️

📈 About the Visualisation

The BID Survey – Live Community Data dashboard is updated automatically — each new survey submission instantly syncs to update the graphs and charts in real time ⚙️📉

We’ve started with a basic set of visualisations, but this can evolve. If you think certain information (e.g., age range, Level of Education, Profession etc...) would be more useful to display than others (e.g., gender etc..), we’re open to your suggestions! ✨

Soon, we’ll introduce a poll to let the community vote on which statistics should appear most prominently.
Until then, feel free to share feedback via:

🙏 Final Notes

Participation is 100% voluntary.
No personal data is stored.
You are welcome to use all parts of the website and forum freely, whether or not you complete the survey.

If you notice any bugs 🐞, visualisation errors, or logic flaws in the form, please let us know immediately in the Announcements & Feedback section — or simply reply here.

We rely on your insight to improve the site and build meaningful tools for this community 💬💙

💡 One Last Thing...

If you have ideas for improving the survey, the data visualisation, or anything else on the site — we’d love to hear from you 🙏
We’re building this project as a community-driven effort, and your suggestions help us shape it into something genuinely useful and respectful of everyone’s experience.

Dear all,

We have already received a few submissions for the new Demographic Survey and corresponding visualisation. However, we’ve noticed that the synchronisation process between form submission and data representation on the graph/chart does not occur in real time. Therefore, if you do not see your entry appear on the map or in the chart immediately, please do not worry – the system requires some time to update. We are working on enhancing the process to reduce the waiting time between form submission and data visualisation.

We will provide an update once the real-time synchronisation is finalised.

In the meantime, feel free to check the page periodically to see if the updates are coming through.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Kind regards,
The BodyIntegrityDysphoria.com Team

Would it make sense to have an additional category in the statistics for people who have been medically diagnosed with BiD?

Hi @lefty,

The closest existing category to what you're referring to might be this one:
Diagnosis and Body Identity → Have you been professionally diagnosed with BID, or is it self-assessed?

That said, I'm open to expanding the survey options/categories. Let me know what you have in mind—either here or privately—and we can discuss it further.

I want the survey to be meaningful for all.

@leandro

Often with BiiD and 2 or 3 times with BiD. 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2023, 2024. It was a tough journey. I have all the documents.

Psychiatrist, psychologist, neuropsychologist, general practitioner, orthopedic surgeon. I can’t do anything more for myself. I keep hitting a wall. Alone.

I spoke with the health department in my town, to see if they could help. Unfortunately, they have no influence over the ICD system. However, it was a pleasant and understanding conversation, free from prejudice, conducted with the head of the department, lasting about 2 hours.

It is roughly estimated that it might take another 20–30 years before guidelines, AMWF recommendations, etc., for the treatment of BiD are provided. Whether the truly confirmed cause will ever be determined and fully proven remains likely uncertain.

I'm also interested in the big question: why and where does BiD come from? A long-suffering self-explorer. However, I'm also fairly certain that BiD isn't a crazy idea. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to legally obtain aids like a Kafo. They're really expensive.

A short step in the right way. No insurance company likes to do that, only when it's necessary.!

More details only privately if it helps to speed up the research and if you want.
