I am a 24-year-old trans dude who has been for a while aware of having BIID.Â
I used to be on another site that sadly shut down for BIID, I have only told one close friend of mine and they where completely understanding of it. They mean the world to me.Â
I'm a bit awkward admitting to the fact that I want my right leg above the knee to be cut off.Â
I am an artist. I have been doing art over 6 years, doing artwork or role-playing characters that match my needs helps me cope sometimes. I can't help but feel ashamed to have this problem.Â
You should not feel ashamed of suffering from BID or having the need to be an amputee. BID is not a choice, but it is what your brain tells you how your body should be. Being Trans, you should understand that since the dysphoria is similar. You are not choosing to be an amputee, but you need to be as such.Â
I always say the worst part of suffering from BID is not so much that one would be disabled if they get what they need for their body, but the fact that it is so hard to get there safely. Being an amputee is not the worst thing in the world, and people manage to find ways of doing things differently. Just do not feel ashamed, and you are not alone either. The ones who achieve are happy and have no regrets except not doing it sooner.
